The Joan Woodbury dance audio-visual collection (1970s) consists of completed movies of Woodbury's dance projects as well as the original film and soundtrack elements used to create the final version. Joan Woodbury is an internationally recognized dancer and choreographer and co-founder of Salt Lake City's Ririe-Woodbury Dance Company.

Joan Woodbury was born on 21 September 1927 in Cedar City, Utah. She graduated from the University of Wisconsin with B.S. degree in dance in 1950 and with a M.S. degree in dance in 1951. She taught dance at that same institution for several years until becoming an instructor at the University of Utah in 1951. Woodbury was an associate professor there during the 1960s and 1970s.
